Collosal! Stupendous!

According to the BDS news team from the Alternative Information Center, the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions “movement” has moved from simply successes to COLOSSAL SUCCESSES, demonstrated by the fact that many people are going out of their way to buy Israeli goods next week.

How does that work? Well according to the aforementioned Alternative (Reality) Info Center, Israel’s friends are so afraid of the near triumphant BDS juggernaut that they have organized a Buy Israeli Goods Week (similar to several successful Buy Israeli Goods – BIG – Day events earlier this year, not to mention the BUYcott phenomena which has all but shut down boycott protests at retailers) in order to distract from BDS’s endless successes and Israel’s countless crimes.

Like much BDS bombast, this declaration of victory is a bit scant on details. In fact, for an article alleging COLOSSAL SUCCESS, would it be too much trouble for them to list just one of these supposed victories (even Meg Ryan)?

After all, I wasted many hours that could have been spent harvesting and selling organs from innocent Palestinian children instead writing up details supporting my case that BDS is probably one of the biggest political failures in a generation. Would it have been that much trouble for someone writing a few hundred words of Alternative Information on the subject to provide one example to support his or her claims of BDS triumph and Israeli terror at this all-powerful political tactic?

I’ve long ago despaired of hearing from any BDSer ready to jump into the comments section of this site and tell us all about the thousands of victories they are so proud of. But clearly their preference is to dwell in their own world which, like Narnia and Cloud Cuckoo Land, must be far preferable to the land the rest of us dwell in (otherwise known as reality).

  1. Hi Jon – I just wanted to let you know that JVP showed up at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Religion/Society of Biblical Literature in San Francisco. They had a both at the book exhibit, with a big banner demanding that TIAA-CREF divest from companies supposed supporting the Israeli occupation. I went and argued with them, but to no avail. Let's see if they count this as one of their phantasmal “victories.”

I wonder what the slide show and stories brought by Jerusalem Peacemakers will consist of. Will they show Jews and muslims shopping together? Will they show muslims working in Israel and pulling down a decent wage? Will they show Jews and muslims creating groups to address the needs of the handicapped, women, homosexuals and the elderly?

Or…will they show the reality in Israel. Will they show that Jews and muslims need to have separate roads because the muslim ‘youth’ pelt the Israeli cars with rocks? Will they show the blood stained faces of Asher Palmer, 25, and his infant son Yonatan, who were killed by these same ‘youths’ throwing rocks on a road the Jews and muslims share? This just happened in September 2011 despite all the ‘good works’ of Jerusalem Peacemakers. Will they show that the muslims, with the help of UNESCO, are turning Jewish history in islamic history. Until 1996, Rachel’s Tomb and the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron were Jewish historical sites that no one had ever questioned. UNESCO comes along and suddenly, these sites are islamic. Will they bring up the fact that Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad, personally sponsored a boycott against Israeli goods causing hundreds of muslims to go broke and hungry? Will they show slides of the faces of hundreds of Jews killed in the intifadas? Will they point out the absurdity of establishing a state with these people in Israel’s heartland?

Or will it be one big Kumbaya moment, not meant to educate but to lull and deceive?

  4. Good post, but you made one mistake – the so-called 'Palestinian' Arabs have NEVER cared about the welfare of women, the disabled, or the elderly.

The do care about homosexuals, though – they care enough about homosexuality to kill as many gays as they can.
